Itabashi CampusAssociate Professor Takanashi and Senior Assistant Professor Takayama exhibited at Medtec Japan 2025

Medtec Japan 2025 was held at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto-ku, Tokyo) from Wednesday, April 9th to Friday, April 11th, 2025, and Associate Professor Toshimitsu Takanashi of Emergency Medical Technician Course Faculty of Medical Technology Department of Sport and Medical Science Teikyo University, and Senior Assistant Professor Yusuke Takayama of the same course exhibited at a booth in collaboration with Itabashi Ward.
This event brought together domestic and international medical device suppliers and manufacturers involved in the design and manufacture of medical devices, and was attended by 17,261 people over three days. This was the first time that we, as a research institute that promotes support for entrepreneurship and medical-engineering collaboration in the medical and healthcare fields, co-exhibited with Itabashi Ward, which aims to support the industrial development of companies in the ward.

At our university's exhibition booth, we exhibited a "simulated blood vessel model that can be worn on a human body," which was born from Associate Professor Takanashi's many years of experience in simulation education for emergency medical technicians. In conventional simulated training, when an injured person needs to have an intravenous line secured, the training is stopped and a dummy that can be punctured is used instead, but this product makes it possible to carry out the entire process without interruption. Since it is worn on the human body and blood vessels are searched and punctured face-to-face, it creates a situation that is closer to an actual rescue site.
In addition, Senior Assistant Professor Takayama exhibited "All-in-one package tracheal intubation set" and "Trauma education specialized MR glasses using MR technology", which were created from the practical lifesaving practice and education field. The "All-in-one package tracheal intubation set" is a tracheal tube used for artificial respiration management such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation and general anesthesia, and all the equipment necessary for tracheal intubation are packed in a sterilized packaging bag ready for immediate use. One of the advantages of using this set for tracheal intubation is that it ensures hygiene and safety similar to that in a medical institution even when performing tracheal intubation in an unstable environment such as the scene of an accident or during transportation. This invention has been patented. "Trauma education specialized MR glasses using MR technology" is a tool intended for use in simulation education in the emergency field. In simulation education in the emergency field, when reproducing trauma on a simulated patient, it is common to stick tape with the details of the trauma on the injured part or to apply wound makeup (moulage), but the problem with these reproductions is that they are significantly different from actual trauma. Therefore, this idea aims to improve the effectiveness of simulation education by reproducing actual trauma on mock patients using MR (Mixed Reality) technology.
The booth was visited by medical device manufacturers and parts manufacturers from Japan and overseas, and there was a lively exchange of opinions regarding the social implementation of the exhibited seeds. Our university will continue to actively return the intellectual property we hold to society and support the research activities of researchers.
