On Saturday, March 8th and Sunday, March 9th, 2025, Teikyo University student Yuki Okamura (3rd year, Department Department of Sport and Medical Science Faculty of Medical Technology) accompanied the Kanagawa Prefecture Junior High School Select Team as a trainer to the 22nd East Japan U15 Junior High School Rugby Football Select Tournament held in Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture. Students from Department of Sport and Medical Science have been participating in the spring select tournament as trainers for several years.
Okamura was proactive in his participation, such as obtaining a safety assistant qualification and participating in practice sessions before the tournament. Through this experience, Okamura said, "I usually work as a trainer for the American football club, but this time I was very nervous because it was a different sport. In club activities, I often work in situations where the teacher is nearby, so I was worried about being on the field alone this time, but I was able to fulfill my role safely. It was a very valuable experience for me, as I was able to experience the sense of responsibility of a trainer and the fun of interacting with the players. I would like to use what I learned this time to improve my own level and continue to work hard so that I can contribute to the team's victory." He also said that he would like to participate in the Kanagawa Prefecture Select Team's summer expedition, and we believe that he will show the players of our university's American football club how much he has grown.
