Educational Purposes

In accordance with School Philosophy, the Faculty of Economics aims to develop human resources who can contribute to the construction of a creative economic society and business model by cultivating practical and theoretical knowledge and skills regarding the economy and companies of Japan and the world.

Three policies of the Faculty of Economics

The Faculty of Economics aims to develop human resources who can work to solve the national issues facing the Japanese economy and the problems that arise in business fields, and contribute to the development of the local economy and society, the tourism hospitality industry, and the promotion of tourism town development. A degree will be awarded to those who have acquired the following abilities and have completed the prescribed credits.

  1. Students acquire basic theories and knowledge related to the Japanese and world economy, regional economy, corporate management and tourism.
  2. Students acquire the ability to deal with various problems facing the Japanese and world economy, regional economy, corporate management, and tourism by applying basic theory and knowledge.
  3. Students acquire the ability to take action, independence, education, and ethics necessary for problem-solving.

In order to enable students to acquire the abilities set out in the degree awarding policy, the Faculty of Economics has organized its curriculum according to the following policies.

  1. Students develop presentation skills, communication skills, and problem-solving skills through small-group education from the 1st year to the 3rd year.
  2. Through taking introductory courses common to all faculties and highly compulsory elective compulsory courses for each department, students acquire basic theories and knowledge about the Japanese and world economy, regional economy, corporate management, and tourism.
  3. Through taking elective compulsory courses and elective courses, students develop problem-solving abilities related to the Japanese and world economy, regional economy, corporate management, and tourism.

Faculty of Economics aims to cultivate talented individuals who can contribute to solving the complex problems facing today's economies and businesses by providing practical and theoretical knowledge and skills about the economies and businesses of Japan, Asia, and the world from an international perspective.

Three policies of the Department of Economics

In accordance with the purpose of Faculty of Economics, Department of Economics aims to develop human resources who can analyze the actual Japanese economy from an international perspective under the globalization of the economy, and deal with various national issues.

Under the globalization of the economy, the Department of Economics aims to develop human resources who can analyze the actual Japanese economy from an international perspective and deal with various national issues. A degree will be awarded to those who have acquired the following abilities and have completed the prescribed credits.

  1. Students who can understand and explain economic issues and theories.
  2. Students who can explain people's behavior and social mechanisms using knowledge in economics and other fields.
  3. Students who can explain the reality of the world and Japanese economies using theory and data.
  4. Students who have the attitude and ability to tackle real socio-economic challenges.

In order to enable students to acquire the skills set forth in the degree awarding policy, Department of Economics has organized its curriculum according to the following policies.

  1. "Life Design Seminar" (1st year), "Basic Seminar" (2nd year), and "Seminar" (3rd year) are compulsory subjects, and students develop presentation skills, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities through small class sizes.
  2. Students acquire basic economic theory by taking the highly compulsory elective subjects "Introduction to the Faculty of Economics" and "Basic Courses" and the elective courses "Economic Theory / Economic History" and "Policy / Finance".
  3. By taking elective courses "Japanese Economy" and "International Economy / Regional Economy", students develop the ability to analyze the reality of Japan and each region of the world economy and deal with specific issues.
  4. By learning adjacent fields such as "management", "tourism management", and "information system" in elective courses, students develop the ability and attitude to tackle the complex challenges facing the real economy.

  • Basic reading comprehension (reading, listening) and expression/argumentative skills (writing, speaking) based on learning and reading in high school.
  • The habit of taking an interest in news about economic issues in Japan and around the world, and thinking independently about these issues using information from books, newspapers, the internet, etc.
  • Acquire basic information gathering, document creation, spreadsheet and presentation skills using ICT.
  • Experience improving communication skills and working with others to solve problems through group work in classes and extracurricular activities such as club activities and committee activities.

In accordance with the purpose of the Faculty of Economics, the Department of International Economy aims to develop human resources who can grasp and analyze the actual situation of the economies of Asia and the world under globalization, which strongly set the trends of the Japanese economy, and tackle various issues facing today's economic society of Japan, Asia and the world.

Through small-group education, "Life Design Exercise I, II" (1st year), "Basic Exercise I, II" (2nd year), "Exercise I, II" (3rd year), "Industrial / Corporate Exercise I, II"(4th year) , students develop communication skills, presentation skills, and attitudes and abilities to set and solve problems independently.

By taking the elective compulsory courses [Introduction to the Faculty of Economics] and [International Economics / Basics] and the basic courses in the adjacent fields of humanities and social sciences, students acquire basic knowledge and theory in economics and adjacent fields connecting to the reality of the international economy and develop the ability to analyze the economic society of Asia and the world.
